Taking a Trip to FRANCE

We are so excited about the next Market Day we have coming up this week.  We have been working hard on researching the culture of France.

What is culture? Culture is the music, food, language, holidays, art and every day life of a certain place.

We used this padlet to help us research the culture of France.

So, what have we learned about France?

Using the TIDE method, write a paragraph giving information about France's culture.

Remember TIDE:

  1. One kind of food people eat in France are pastries. Three of the types of pastries are croissants, eclairs, and macaroons.People in France eat croissants because they are buttery and rich in flavor. People in the U.S.A. eat croissants too. Eclair is another type of pastry the French eat. Eclair is eaten by the French because it is a long, thin pastry made with choux pastry. In french it means “lighting”. Macaroons are another type of pastry that French eat. People like eating macarons because the macaroons are like cookies but are made with ground nuts. 10. The Coronation of the Virgin is by Fra Angelico. In this painting the Christ is crowning the Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven. I don’t why Fra Angelico made this painting. It's still interesting though.
The Christ and the new queen of heaven are surrounded by rays( which I think they are like lasers). The rays are blocking the heavenly light. The light is supposed to go over the new queen of heaven.
This painting is has a mystic tone to it. It also has a large crowd of saints and angels. In the large crowd it also has blessed people.
Well that's the painting “Coronation of the Virgin”. I hope you found it interesting. I sure did.

Did you know the number of French speakers has tripled since 1945? Most former French and Belgian Colonies kept French as their language of government, education, and science. Kinshasa is the world’s second largest French speaking city after paris and before Montreal and Brussels. Did you know you say “hello” in french by saying “bonjour?” You say, “hello my country is France” by saying “bonjour mon pays est la France.” French is taught and spoken worldwide .By Dakedra
