DeleteYou had some very good ideas from our study of Ellis Island. I see your opinion. However, I am missing your evidence from the photographs. What in the photographs told you they were tired, poor and wanted to be free? I am so proud of you for typing as much as you did for your first time! Keep up the great work!
Mrs. Becky

DeleteYou had a wonderful introduction. I can tell you learned a lot from our study of Ellis Island. You know your stuff for sure. However, I missed seeing your opinion. You never addressed the question in the prompt. I am amazed at how much you typed. That is fantastic! You did not give up and for that I am so proud of you! We are going to get there! Keep on working hard!
Mrs. Becky
I am talking about the immigrants. I think they looked so dirty, so tired and very nervous. I think they are dirty because in picucher 5 they look direty. I also think they are tired because in picucher 1 they look tired.

Jonathan,
DeleteI am very impressed with how much you did with it being our first one. I love how you used the photographs to prove the immigrants were tired. I know you mentioned they were dirty, but where did you get that? Was that part of the poem? Remember to use the prompt to help your writing. Fantastic job for your first one! Keep up the great work!

The immagrins ho came to Ellis Island were poor and tired .By Colt
ReplyDeleteColt,
DeleteExcellent sentence. Let's work on adding what from the photographs showed you they were poor and tired. You get that and you will almost be there! Thanks for putting forth effort!
Mrs. Becky
They were duty and sad becase it was sary by perry
ReplyDeletePerry,
DeleteI don't know who "they" are. Why are they sad? Why are they dirty? Where did you get those words? I want you to use the question next time. What word from the poem could you have used to describe the immigrants? Then what proof from the photographs proved they fit those descriptions? Thank you for trying! I know you will get better each time!
Mrs. Becky
The imagrants came thruogh ellis island and Were tired, poor, and wanted to be free. In photo 1 the imagrants were tired because the look like they have not slept in months. In photo 2 they look poor because they have a little amount stuff. In photo 3 they look like they want to be free as they walk to ellis island. Thats how they are based on the photos By Benjamin.
ReplyDeleteBenjamin,
DeleteWOW! Great beginning! I love how you used the photographs to give evidence for why you thought they were those descriptions. I want us to work on our opinion next time. We need to develop it a little more! You have nailed the reasons and evidence though! Fantastic job!
Mrs. Becky
Immigrants coming to Ellis Island was hard on them.It was hard on them they didn't get any sleep. They were poor they couldn't bring some of there stuff with them to America. The immigrants were hungry some of there food was out of date. They didn't have any where to sleep. The immigrants looked like they haven't took a bath in 7 months. They all started screaming at the Statue of Libritey. I think immigrants should be treated they right way in AMERICA.

Maggie,
DeleteFantastic opening for your paragraph. I can tell you really understand the whole idea of immigrants coming to Ellis Island. You used some of the words from the poem like was asked of you in the question. I want us to work on your opinion next time. Your first opinion and your last opinion don't match. However, I am SUPER impressed with how much you typed for our first time. Keep up the great work! You are going to do fantastic things.
Mrs. Becky
IT WILL BE SAD FOR THE IMAGRAT THEy did not have much food. it took a long time to there home land to elies iland. They came there to have a better life. They were tied. So that is why the imagraat came to elies iland. They where poor tied and want to be free.this is about the imagraat by achilles
ReplyDeleteAchilles,
DeleteYou are on the right track. You gave lots of facts about the immigrants and I can tell you learned a lot from our study. I wish you had used our outline though of giving me opinion, reasons, evidence and opinion. You never really told me any of that. We will work on that before next time. I am so impressed with how much you typed for our first time. Keep up the great work! It will only get easier!
Mrs. Becky
these are reasons why they look tired poor and huddle.1they look tired and poor because there clothes are made out of cloth. 2 they look tired because they are standing in a long line. 3 they look sad because they have been seperated from family.4they have been seperated from friends.5 they look uncomfortable.6 they felt free when they saw the statue of liberty.those are reasons I belive.

Lilly,
DeleteWOW! Fantastic reasons and evidence as to why they were described that way in the poem! I can tell you understand what we have studied not only in social studies, but in writing as well. I think we should work on our opinion next time. You are almost there. We need to make it a little stronger. I am so proud of your hard work in this paragraph. I am also proud of the great friend you were to Abigail as you were typing this. Thank you for always doing the right thing.
Mrs. Becky
At Ellis Island the people look poor by their clothes and faces. And sad because they had to leave stuff behind. And the imergrants had to wait in very long lines. And if they are to sick they have to go all the way back. And when they were on the boat it was very hulded together. And most of all the people was very happy because they saw the Staute of Liberty. And the imergrets was happy to be free.

DeleteWhat a wonderful job you did with your reasons and evidence! I am just so proud of you! Now that you have the "frosting" down, I want us to work on the "cookie" part - your opinions! Keep up the great work! I am thrilled that you were able to get as much typed as you did!
Mrs. Becky
Why People Were Poor On Ellis Island The immagrins ho came throw Ellis Island were poor because they spent all of there life savings to go on the boat. And sad because they were not free. Plus they did'nt get sleep some times the food went bad. By BEN HAZELWOOD
ReplyDeleteBen,
DeleteGreat reason and evidence as to why the immigrants were poor, but that wasn't the entire question. Please read and answer the question. I also need you to give me your opinion. I am very glad that you worked as hard as you did to get all of that typed. Things are going to get easier as we go. We will work together to get better!
Mrs. Becky

Aaron,
DeleteExcellent thoughts! I can tell you understood the process at Ellis Island and why the immigrants came there. However, you did not answer the question that was asked. You needed to give an opinion and then support that opinion with reasons and evidence from the photographs. We will continue to work on this so don't get discouraged. I am so proud that you were able to type as much as you did. Next time we will work on getting the content on the computer.
Mrs. Becky
It was a hard life for the immagrents. They looked poor because they wore rags. They looked tired because they waited a long time. They looked bitter because they were seperated. They look uncomftorble because they are crowded. They felt free when they saw the statue of liberty.
ReplyDeleteLily,
DeleteI am sorry I forgot to put your name as I was signing you in on the blog. You have some great thoughts. I like how you have excellent evidence (although I don't know where that evidence came from) to support your reasons. I am missing your opinions. So, I think next time, we will work on that. For your first time, I think this is a great start! Keep up the wonderful work!
Mrs. Becky
The immagrants traveled to America to see what America was like. They looked poor because of there clothes the were made of rags. The looked tired because of there faces the looked droopy and they have been riding that boat for weeks. The look huddled because there was a lot of people on that boat. I got poor, tired, huddled masses and breath free from the poem. that's my opion.

Keara,
DeleteFantastic job! You are on the right track for sure! You have an excellent introduction and wonderful reasons and evidence. I am missing your opinion at the beginning and where you got your evidence, but that just gives us something to improve on for sure! This is very impressive! Keep up the great work!

DeleteGreat facts about Ellis Island. I see you learned a lot from our study last week. I am glad of that. One thing I want us to work on is answering the question that was given. Remember it doesn't matter what great facts you give if you don't answer the question given to you! You've got this! Keep up the great work and we will get this together!
Mrs. Becky

DeleteFor not being here on Tuesday when we did a lot of this work, this is amazing! I can tell you listened on Wednesday and turned around to apply it! I can't ask for anything better! You gave your opinion. You gave reasons and evidence. You told where you got your evidence! You were very descriptive with your evidence. WOW! We can work with this for sure! You are going to rock this!
Mrs. Becky
Immagrants went throw Ellis Island so they could become americans. And at Ellis Island had translators and the translator could speak any langue and their bags had to be checked so the people that worked at Ellis Island knew that the immagrants did any crime because the immagrants would have to go back to their home country and immagrants that where sick had to stay in a hospital and some had to stay on Ellis Island at night and on the boat the immagrants had to be huddled because there wasn't enough room and at night on the boat the immagrants just had to sleep on the floor so when an immagrant found a open spot the immagrant would lay there and sleep there all night and in the morning the immagrants would put their stuff away but there wasn't enough room to put their bags so they had to pile them up. And the immagrants where happy to see the statue of liberty. There is a poem that says give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to breath free. By Emily Kogos.
